FIRMWARE RELEASE NOTES ====================== Products affected: AXIS 212 PTZ Network Camera Release date: 2007-05-04 Release type: Production Firmware version: 4.40 File name: 212PTZ_440.bin Preceding release: 4.35 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS ==================== The firmware can be upgraded using Axis Camera Management 2.0, HTTP or FTP. Please follow the instructions from the user's manual, the web page at http://www.axis.com/techsup/cam_servers/how_to_upgrade.htm or the file named howtoupgrade.txt. RELEASE 4.40 ============ New features ============ 4.40:F01 Support for IPv6. 4.40:F02 Support for QoS. The product uses the DiffServ model and marks the following classes: Live Video, Event/Alarm and Management. 4.40:F03 Support for 802.1x/EAPOL(Extensible Authentication Protocol Over Lan) using EAP-TLS (EAP-Transport Layer Security). 4.40:F04 Added a parameter containing the path to the administrator web page (root.Properties.API.HTTP.AdminPath). 4.40:F05 Now possible to disable network services such as FTP, RTSP etc. See System Options | Support | System Overview for a list of the services that can be disabled. 4.40:F06 Added process list, /proc/netstat, ifconfig and vmstatus to the Server Report. 4.40:F07 A toolbar with a play and stop button is now available when using the Mozilla/Firefox browser. 4.40:F08 AXIS Media Control now has a reconnection strategy accessible from Control Panel on the Windows client. This allows the user to decide how the AMC client should handle a loss of connectivity with the product, i.e., for how long the product will try to reconnect and at which interval. 4.40:F09 Recording of Motion JPEG/MPEG4 streams to .asf files with the AXIS Media Control. This functionality is enabled in the Live View Config menu. For more info see also the AXIS Media Control user's manual, available at: http://www.axis.com/techsup/software/amc/index.htm. 4.40:F10 Now possible to configure the mail server's port (default 25). 4.40:F11 Added the setting for a time interval (or delay) between triggered events. This is the minimum time period that the event type must wait after a trigger before it will be possible to trigger it again. The interval starts as soon as the first trigger occurs (see online help for more information). 4.40:F12 It is now possible to create a separate folder for each event when uploading images via FTP. The folder name can include modifiers commonly used in file names (see the online help for more information). 4.40:F13 Added the possibility to schedule a Guard Tour. From Event settings, choose to add a scheduled event. The Guard Tour will run as long as the event is active. If two scheduled Guard Tours overlap, the priority is given to the one scheduled to start first. The second scheduled Guard Tour will start when the first one is becoming inactive. 4.40:F14 The camera automatically goes back to overview mode after a configurable time. See help for more information. 4.40:F15 AXIS Media Control viewer is now compatible with Windows Vista. Modifications ============= 4.40:M01 The view size buttons in Live View have been removed. 4.40:M02 Added Seoul in GMT+9 time zone. 4.40:M03 Reduced latency for I/O alarm trigger. 4.40:M04 Allow preset names including '&' characters. 4.40:M05 In Guard Tour settings, a new parameter "Pause between runs" defines how long the Guard Tour will pause before starting a new sequence. 4.40:M06 In Guard Tour settings, view time and move speed have changed place. 4.40:M07 The embedded HTTP client fills in the Host field in the HTTP header. 4.40:M08 The product will perform DST time adjustment according to the new rules valid in the USA, starting 2007. More information about this change is available at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_Policy_Act_of_2005#Change_to_ daylight_saving_time Re-apply and save the time zone and DST setting on the product for changes to take effect. 4.40:M09 Motion detection now works while in the Overview mode. It is disabled during PTZ movements and will not be enabled until 3 seconds after returning to the Overview mode. 4.40:M10 A new runtime parameter for configuring the low light behaviour is added, the plainconfig parameter is: ImageSource.I0.Sensor.NoiseColorReduction Setting this parameter to 0 disables the color level reduction when noise level increases, thus the image never becomes black and white. When the parameter is set to 100 (the default setting) the camera will go into B&W mode when noise increases. No other values are supported. Corrections in 4.40 since 4.35 ============================== 4.40:C01 Improved event error handling, especially while using motion detection. 4.40:C02 When an event failed to upload its images, it could happen that the buffer data was not removed from the file system, eventually causing a 'Cache Full'. At this point no more images could be uploaded. This issue has now been corrected. 4.40:C03 Corrected AXIS Media Control filter installation procedure on Windows systems using Windows Security Update (KB 896688). See the FAQ: http://www.axis.com/techsup/faq/index.php?id=63639 4.40:C04 The HTTP response is now correct when the time is set back using the VAPIX. 4.40:C05 It is now possible to use the 'force' option (param.cgi) in VAPIX. 4.40:C06 FTP login issue due to long sign-on message (more than 256 chars) has been resolved. 4.40:C07 It is now possible to stream MPEG4 over HTTP using a port other than 80. 4.40:C08 Improved stability of streaming MPEG4, when using QuickTime, for certain product configurations. 4.40:C09 It is now possible to upgrade the product when NAT traversal functionality is enabled. 4.40:C10 Corrected RTC low voltage detection. When the battery was replaced, the system would continue claiming that the voltage was low. This is now corrected. 4.40:C11 Corrected output monitoring. It is now possible to use the following VAPIX http request: http:///axis-cgi/io/output.cgi?monitor=1,2,... 4.40:C12 Corrected an issue in the Axis Internet Dynamic DNS functionality. The complete server list is now used if the first host name in the list cannot be resolved. 4.40:C13 It is now possible to add more than 12 users with usernames and passwords that have maximum length. 4.40:C14 Installing a signed SSL certificate not ended by a line feed is now possible. 4.40:C15 It is now possible to create a self-signed certificate with a validity greater than a year. Longer values are no longer defaulted to 30 days. 4.40:C16 In case of the communication problems with certain FTP servers, uploaded images will now get the correct sequence number. 4.40:C17 It is now possible to use " and ' characters in the TCP notification messages. 4.40:C18 when JavaApplet viewer is used, motion detection data is no longer shown when the video is stopped. 4.40:C19 Motion is now detected more precisely inside the configured window. 4.40:C20 MPEG-4 streaming no longer stops after 25 days. 4.40:C21 BMP images are no longer corrupted intermittently. Known limitations ================= 4.40:L1 If you set compression to 0% the frame rate may decrease substantially for Motion JPEG for certain scenes. This is because the image size may not exceed 128 KB. Workaround: Set the compression to 5% instead. The image quality will not suffer noticeably, but the image size will be much smaller. 4.40:L2 Including format field #b or #B in text overlay will show incorrect bandwidth usage when frame rate is limited for Motion JPEG. 4.40:L3 Viewing full screen and sequencing through different external video sources with different video streams in a sequence will switch the full screen mode off. 4.40:L4 Viewing full screen and saving a snapshot image using a joystick button will switch the full screen mode off. 4.40:L5 The AXIS Media Control may stop displaying the MPEG-4 stream after the screen saver has been active or the computer has been locked. Workaround: Reload the Live View page. 4.40:L6 If using dual screens and moving the AXIS Media Control window from one screen to the other, the MPEG-4 stream may stop updating. Workaround: Reload the Live View page. 4.40:L7 The Axis Media Control should reload itself at audio configuration changes on server. Sometimes it does not. Workaround: Reload the Live View page. 4.40:L8 If you use G.726 audio encoding, audio will not be available when using QuickTime as viewer. Workaround: Choose G.711 or AAC encoding instead if you are using QuickTime as viewer. 4.40:L9 If you use G.726 or AAC audio encoding, audio will not be available when using AXIS Media Java Applet as viewer. Workaround: Choose G.711 encoding instead if you are using the AXIS Media Java Applet as viewer. 4.40:L10 If viewing the image stream on Mac OS X with Mozilla Firefox or Camino using the AXIS Media Java Applet, a third party plugin may be needed to get the browser to use the correct Java version. The Java Embedding Plugin can be found at http://javaplugin.sourceforge.net/. 4.40:L11 The AXIS Media Control toolbar is not available when using the Mozilla Firefox and Netscape Web browsers. This is because images are viewed with server push instead of ActiveX (AXIS Media Control). 4.40:L12 When saving a snapshot image, some Web browsers (e.g. Mozilla) will fetch a new picture and the saved picture will not match the displayed snapshot. 4.40:L13 The Mozilla Web browser does not always close the image stream properly when leaving the Live View page. Restarting the stream can sometimes fail as well. Restarting Mozilla solves these two problems. 4.40:L14 Panning and tilting by clicking in the image is not available when using QuickTime as viewer. Workaround: Use the pan and tilt bars instead. 4.40:L15 Zooming using the mouse wheel is only available using the AXIS Media Control or the AXIS Media Java Applet viewers. Workaround: Use the zoom bar instead. 4.40:L16 When audio is enabled and AXIS Media Control snapshot functionality is used in the Live View, the video stream will stop and Internet Explorer can stop responding. Workaround: Go to Control Panel > AXIS Media Control > Snapshot and uncheck the box "Open the snapshot folder in the background". This issue will be corrected in the next firmware. 4.40:L17 Motion is not detected in the bottom 1/16th of the image.
