NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Products involved: AXIS StorPoint CDE100 for Fast Ethernet Release date: June 22, 1999 Release type: Release Software version: 5.10 File name: cde100_510.bin File size: 2,209,826 bytes Last preceding release: 5.09 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Added features in version 5.10: =============================== 5.10:1 Native Macintosh support Support for the native Macintosh network protocol (AFP) has been added. This includes support for both AFP over AppleTalk and AFP over TCP/IP. 5.10.2: Native Macintosh CD-ROM support (HFS) Support for the Macintosh specific Hierarchical File System has been added for CD-ROM:s. This works both with pure HFS CD-ROM:s and hybrid HFS/ISO9660 discs. 5.10:3 New parameter: Network speed The network speed can be set to 10/100/Auto. This can be used to lock the network speed if the automatic speed negotiation fails. 5.10:4 New NFS parameter: LowerNonCase The parameter is used to lowercase file and volume names on volumes with non-case-sensitive file systems (ISO9660 and High Sierra) because some applications requires lowercase filenames. 5.10:5 Modified factory default The push button factory default method has been modified. Please refer to the on-line user's manual for further information. 5.10:6 Faster start-up The start-up time has been decreased by improving the SCSI device detection. Corrected problems in version 5.10: =================================== 5.10:7 File system: Low level format The hard disks can no longer be formatted with VFAT16 after a low level format. 5.10:8 Textfiles: Allow RW-open When inserting a new volume the Allow RW-open parameter was not copied from default.txt. 5.10:9 Caching: CD-UDF Some CD-UDF volumes were considered identical when being cached. In some cases this caused a volume to be considered cached when inserted although it wasn't. When accessing the inserted volume, data from the other cached volume was accessed. 5.10:10 Caching: Clearing disks An inserted archived disc in a shared drive was unmounted when the hard disk was cleared. 5.10:11 SMB: Share password SMB share passwords longer than 8 characters were allowed. Such passwords made it impossible to access the share. The password length is now correctly limited to 8 characters 5.10:12 NetWare: Server crash The StorPointCDE100 could restart or freeze if a NetWare/IP client requested missing burst fragments in burst mode. 5.10:13 NetWare: Illegal characters in volume names Volume names for empty CD-drives contained illegal characters ('<' and '>'). This could cause some problems when using the newest Novell Clients ( Novell Client v3.1 for Windows95/98 or Novell Client 4.6 for Windows NT4.0). The symptom was that no volumes were seen when browsing the server in Network Neighborhood. The illegal characters have been replaced with '_'. Corrected problems in version 5.09: ======================================== 5.09:1 File System: Volume label containing '.' The StorPoint would get confused when changing a volume name where the volume label contained a dot. This would result in an unspecified behavior. 5.09:2 SMB: File sharing error when two clients open the same file When a file was opened on a Windows NT client after it had first been opened on a Windows 95 client, access would be incorrectly denied in one particular case. This would sometimes make it impossible for example to run the Office 97 setup from Windows NT and Windows 95 at the same time. 5.09:3 NFS: Non existent files Under heavy load, when a client tried to access a file using its file ID, the server would sometimes claim that the file did not exist even though it did. 5.09:4 NFS: Lost mountings Some clients, Windows NT clients in particular, would sometimes lose their mountings. 5.09:5 Web: NFS property settings If you opened the properties dialog for a disc, and then clicked 'OK' without having clicked on the Unix(NFS) tab at least once, the Unix(NFS) properties would be erased. Corrected problems in version 5.08: =================================== 5.08:1. File system: Reboot after read errors The server would sometimes reboot after a medium read error on ISO9660 CD-ROMs. 5.08:2. File system: Changing the case of the volume name It is now possible to change the volume name to be the same as the label but with a different case. 5.08:3. Memory handling: Server could hang when allocating large amounts of memory. Some strange packets (e.g. IPX) could do this. 5.08:4. NetWare: Problem communicating with other NDS servers A bug in the NCP client caused it to disregard 'request in progress' messages from other servers. This could cause a connection to incorrectly timeout after eight seconds. 5.08:5. NetWare: NetWare/IP DSS Communication problem The CD-ROM Server occasionally had problems communicating with the DSS server. The implementation is now more robust regarding packet loss on slow WAN links. 5.08:6. SMB: Several identical SMB shares Different volumes with the same label would get the same SMB share name but different volume names. In order get this working, a factory default may be necessary. 5.08:7. SMB: Short file names Using short file names instead of long in Win95 DOS prompts didn't always work. 5.08:8. SMB: File sharing error when two clients open the same file When a file was opened on a Windows 95 client after it had first been opened on a Windows NT client, access was incorrectly denied in one particular case. This made it impossible for example to run the Office 97 setup from Windows NT and Windows 95 at the same time. 5.08:9. SMTP: Server hang when sending mails If the server attempted to send a mail notification of a log event while being heavily loaded, it would occasionally hang. 5.08:10. Web: Switching between SMB Share Level and User Level If you switched between SMB Share Level and User Level security using the web installation wizard, the change wouldn't always take effect. 5.08:11. Web: NetWare IPX frame types A problem when setting IPX frame types from the network settings page was fixed. 5.08:12. Web: JavaScript error in NDS Wizard A bug in the JavaScript code could cause a script error if there were too many NDS trees to display on the 'Select Tree' page. Best regards Axis Communications AB
