NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Products involved: AXIS StorPoint CD and CD/T for Ethernet Release date: 970131 Release type: Production Software version: 3.04 Filename: CDE_304.BIN Size: 2117 Kbytes Last preceding release: 3.01 (and 3.03) Flash loading instructions: See flash.txt document --------------------------------------------------------------------- Added features and corrected problems in version 3.04: ============================================================= 1. Extended SMB The CD-ROM server now handles the Extended SMB dialect which makes browsing with NT clients (3.51 and 4.0) possible. 2. Hiding volumes in SMB The Volumes and Config folders will be hidden to all clients when the ShowPseudoShares in set to No. The folders can still be reach by manual mapping. 3. Corrected problems with disconnecting NBT clients Disconnect problems with SMB over NetBIOS/TCP/IP have been solved. 4. NetWare frame type autodetection The autodetection of network numbers associated with frame types could cause the CD-ROM server to take a network number from another segment. This problem has been corrected and it is also possible to explicitly set the network number and thus bypass the autodetection completely. The number can be set for each frame type individually in the config.ini file. This setting cannot be initiated from the Web configuration pages. 5. NetWare Client32 for WinNT and Win3.11 Using these new clients, you could not run or read specific files, such as .exe or .ini files, from the CD-ROM server. This is now possible. 6. NetWare wildcard search with Client32 Some combinations of wildcards (for instance, searching for files with no extensions using wildcards such as afile* or afile.*) did not work, that is no such files were found even if they did exist. This has now been remedied. 7. Authentication server in NetWare A bug that caused the CD-ROM server to unnecessarily occupy multiple connections on its authentication server has been fixed. 8. Problems with Novell client 32 for NT The Novell Client 32 for NT would sometimes hang in an infinite loop when using burst mode to read files that had a length that was not an even multiple of four bytes. This has now been fixed. 9. Increased performance in HTTP HTTP performance has been improved. 10. Broken images in HTTP A bug, that caused images in the CD-ROM server's HTML pages to sometimes appear as broken (that is they were not loaded correctly), has been fixed. 11. Security leak in HTTP Under some circumstances, config.ini could be read without providing a password. This is no longer possible. 12. Volume rights management in HTTP There was a bug that made the Volume Rights Management pages appear as empty when you loaded them for the first time. This has been fixed. 13. Automatic detection of index.htm and index.html. If an index.htm(l) file is found on the root level of a CD when it is accessed from a web browser, the file will automatically be opened by the Web browser. 14. Wrong file sizes (all protocols) When you listed files in non-CD directories (such as config and volumes) for the first time, they would have a file size of zero bytes. They are now always listed with correct file sizes. 15. Jukebox time lock A parameter that enables you to set the minimum time to lock a CD in the drive of a CD changer. This prevents the changer form constantly swapping CDs when clients are accessing different CDs. The lock time is set by the JukeBoxLockTime parameter. The recommended setting is in the same region as time the changer takes to swap CD’s, i.e. 2-10 seconds. 16. Date and time parameters removed The Date and time parameters have been removed from the config.ini file. 17. New structure in Volumes folder The txt files in the Volumes folder have been divided in to three different sub-folders; Server, Scsi and Cdrom. Please note that the files existing in the Volumes folder will not automatically be moved to the new folders. 18. MediaAgent support The client program MediaAgent from MediaPath is supported, and the support can be turned on or off using the MediaAgentMode parameter. 19. Nakamichi MBR 7 support The StorPoint CD now also support the MBR 7 changer from Nakamichi. The changer also exists with other brand names. 20. Memory expansion It is now possible to expand the memory of the StorPoint CD using a single 4MB DRAM module, a 16 MB module or two 16 MB modules. Best regards AXIS COMMUNICATIONS AB
