NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Products involved: AXIS 5550 Release date: Nov 4, 2005 Release type: PRODUCTION Software version: 7.06 File size: 1 257 296 bytes Last preceding release: 7.00 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact Information ==================== Please contact Axis Communications for product information, updates and support at: http://www.axis.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- Added features in version 7.06 ================================ - An 'Override Portstatus' parameter has been added to the USB port in order to function with USB printers that always say that they're offline. - A new parallel port speed mode, ECP, has been added. This should be used with printers that support ECP but not PJL. - A Robots.txt file has been added to the built-in web server to avoid being indexed by search engines. Corrected problems in version 7.06 ================================== - Corrected problem with some Kyocera USB printers not being discovered by the NPS, i.e. the NPS claimed nothing was connected to the USB port. - The NPS no longer ends up in a non recoverable endless loop if it receives the slp-directory-agent option from the DHCP server, and an SLP DA is is present on the net. - The NPS no longer keeps rebooting for ever if it receives a NDS tree name via dhcp and the new name differs from the one stored in the print server. - When upgrading NPS's connected directly to a Cisco Catalyst switch with FTP, the client occasionally timed-out and terminated the upgrade operation. The reason was that the NPS during the upgrade process first closed and then re-established the Ethernet link to the switch. When the link is estimated again the switch does not forward packets to and from the NPS for approximately 30 secs, which makes some clients tiem-out the operation. This problem has been solved. The NPS no longer terminates the link. - When upgrading an NPS with FTP, in some cases the upgrade would fail, it would get stuck before upgrading begun due to a bug in the FTP flash programmer code. This problem has now been solved. - In some network environments the NPS could have difficulties obtaining an address using DHCP due to late answers from the DHCP server. The DHCP client in the NPS now tries for a longer time period to solve this problem. - The NPS now sends a gratuitous ARP when after boot boot and when ever the IP address changes. - The NPS now again supports HP Printer Installer for Unix. - Corrected behaviour when receiving ICMP packets sent to Ethernet multicast addresses. The NPS no longer replies to them unless the IP address is our own, or an IP multicast address that we listen to. - Rendezvous is now known as Bonjour. - Reverse data handling for the USB port has been improved. - Improved handling of PJL communication with the printer. * No PJL commands are sent before print jobs. * Status command is sent once at startup or when connecting a printer. * Changes in PJL parsing to handle changes in PJL command syntax. - Pagecount command is sent after the print job to make sure that we show the correct pagecount on the web page. - Corrected background color on some web pages. Limitations in version 7.06 =========================== - The delete button in the web-interface does not work for the usb-port - Support for Checksums in Netware is not implemented. - Axis ThinWizard is the recommended management tool to use with this print server. HP WebJetadmin is neither tested nor supported with this release. - FW 7.00 and later are not fully compatible with TW 3.00. The Print Server name will be missing and the Status reported by TW 3.0 will be wrong. For full functionality please use TW 3.04, or higher. - Firmware release 7.00 and onwards only supports print servers with Axis brand name.
