NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Products involved: AXIS OfficeBasic Parallel (02) Release date: Sep 10, 2004 Release type: PRODUCTION Software version: 7.00 File size: AXIS OfficeBasic Parallel (02) 962 332 byte Last preceding release: 6.43 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note that the notation (02) is used in order to distinguish between the Axis Officebasic Parallel products with product-id 0107-xx1-02 and 0107-xx1-01. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact Information ==================== Please contact Axis Communications for product information, updates and support at: http://www.axis.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- Added features in version 7.00 ============================== - Rendezvous - The TCP/IP parameters has been divided into two sets: TCP/IP Network and TCP/IP Printing - The account list has been increased to contain the last 100 jobs. - Appletalk autodetection of printer type is now enabled/disabled on a per port basis (enabled by default). Default printer type is LaserWriter. Corrected problems in version 7.00 ================================== - Improved support in Mac OS X for a number of Epson laser printers. - If the print server receives the domain name option via DHCP, the value is validated before the parameter is set. - The tcp handling of retransmissions is improved. Data loss is now less frequent in tcp sessions where the amount of data retransmission is high. - The Delete Job functionality is improved, now it is possible to delete "hanging" jobs as well. - A TCP/IP problem which could cause network disturbances has been corrected. - A problem with printing very small jobs with raw tcp has been removed. Earlier, the print jobs could disappear if the print server received 'end-of-file' before the printer became available. - Solved problem with missing lines when print jobs are sent while the printer is disconnected or offline. - Improved performance by limiting simultaneous raw tcp connections to 5 per tcp port. Earlier, printing clients could consume the print server's memory if the printer was e.g. powered off. - Improvement to make sure the print server honors the busy signal in the parallel port interface. Known problems in version 7.00 ============================== - If upgrading from a firmware release earlier than 6.43, the DHCP parameter will be set to the default value, i.e. enabled. Thus after upgrading from these old releases, any static IP parameters such as the IP address, will be replaced with values obtained with DHCP. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. - If there is an SLP directory agent on the network and the slp-directory-agent option (RFC 2165) is used by the dhcp server, the Print Servers will most likely end up in a non recoverable endless loop.
