1(3) NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE ==================== Products involved AXIS 700 (0075-1) Release date 981123 Release type Production Software version 1.11 Filename 700_111.bin Size 2,090,176 bytes Last preceding 1.10 release Flash loading See flash.txt document or instructions http://www.axis.com/techsup/scan_servers/howto_ upgrade.html ---------------------------------------------------------------- Important: - Make a back-up of current settings before upgrading. Release Description =================== Changes since release 1.10: Scanner Drivers: - Support for more scanners and digital copiers: Ricoh Aficio 401, Gestetner 3240, Nashuatec D440, Rex Rotary 2840, RIOS-800/850 (Ricoh in Japan), Gestetner SC-01/420, Avision 820C and ADF support for HP 6200/6250. Other scanners/digital copiers might also be supported if it is an OEM version of one of the listed. External destinations: - The destinations retrieved via LDAP/FTP are now only flushed if there is less than 1MB free memory when a scanning starts. - Even if the external destinations are flushed, the currently selected destinations remain and are available directly after the scanning. Configuration (Web pages): - The web pages are a lot faster now. - Https can now be used as external link for images. - Default parameter for URL versus attachment added which means that LDAP destinations now can be used with scan-to-URL. - Server uptime added on 'This AXIS 700'-page. - Added possibility to view all external destinations. This can be used to import LDAP addresses to a text editor to easily create an address list to put on an FTP server when the 'load e-mail addresses from server' function is used. - The destinations, profiles and paper sizes are now listed when viewing the server settings. - List of supported scanners has been updated. - E-mail addresses can now be longer than 64 characters. - It is now possible to specify the timeout for SMTP transfers. - Added possibility to clear the event log. - E-mail reply address is now blank as default. Transfer Methods: - Scan-to-URL produces longer file names e.g. if sent to john.doe@... the file name will be john_doe####.ext where #### is a time stamp. - Scan-to-e-mail now handles RFC822 e-mail addresses like these: John Doe , john.doe@axis.com (John Doe). For use with fax servers like RightFax and FACSys. See application note at http://www.axis.com for more information. Front Panel Interface: - The firmware version can now be displayed from the advanced menu. Image Formats: - TIFF performance increased 5-10%. Information file: - Y resolution and host name (if available via DNS) added. Corrected problems: - Help text for LDAP/FTP server addresses corrected. - Fix added to avoid network death in the product during low traffic. It is, however, not verified that it actually helps. - It should now be possible to use sub-directories with FTP and Netware's FTP server. - A possible memory problem has been fixed in the base 64 encoding routine used by SMTP. - The box should not respond incorrectly to ICMP messages if someone tries to set the IP address using ARP after the box has been up for more than 30 minutes. - When scanning multiple piles of sheets to PDF using an ADF the scan server should no longer scan an extra page using the flat bed between each pile. - All web pages should now work even when a Japanese character set is used by the browser. - Mail addresses that are reported as illegal by the mail server are now logged (they were previously only shown on the LCD for a few seconds). - Addresses retrieved via LDAP should now be loaded correctly at startup. Previously it was possible that the first try failed, resulting in a two minute delay. - The timeout for external FTP destinations has been increased to one minute (it was previously 10 seconds). This also fixes a startup problem. Known problems: - For Ricoh Aficio 401, Gestetner 3240, Nashuatec D440 and Rex Rotary 2840 the scan mode must be activated on the digital copier before the scan server is booted. Grayscale is currently not supported for these digital copiers. - Ricoh IS01/420/430 non-common image size and resolution may result in a scanner lock-up. - Some Web browsers shows garbage characters on some web pages. - Scanning PDF files to Internet Explorer does not work. - Saving JPEG images in Internet Explorer does not work without reload, which will result in a second scanning. - Some proxy servers does not load images for the web pages from the AXIS 700. Set direct connection. Known problems when upgrading from releases earlier than 1.10: - The server password will be reset to 'pass' after upgrading. - The scan-to-file index file will be turned OFF for all FTP destinations when upgrading to this release. - The mail server field will be set to 'mail' regardless of previous value.
